Day 1 – Gemini Bridges / Golden Spike / Sovereign / Shake-down

"Shake-down" ride to start the trip revealed a clogged main jet on the KTM. A quick clean and we were good to go! Also, a blown bearing on the RZR was also diagnosed and fixed.

Took a picture here a few years back on Josh‘s first trip with me to Moab. He is on his mission this year. Missed him – but he is do much more important work than riding around in the desert. 🙂

I saw a helicoption fly over me out on the Sovereign Trail single track trail. Shortly there after, I ran into a Search and Rescue team that was looking for a downed rider. I told them where the helicopter went and then we split up to find the rider.

Loading the injured rider. Early triage was broken hip and collar bone. Rider was in a tremendous amount of pain. Great respect for Search and Rescue teams and the incredible work that they do.

"You are here" - that is so helpful. I have always wondered where I am, now I know. I feel so much better now...

No joke - the road was indeed closed by Mother Nature.

Rose Garden Hill – Fail. We waited, and waited (and filmed) while these two yahoos were trying to take a stocker 4Runner up RGH. Not going to happen. You can’t hear it, but you can see the front differential hit the big rock – ouch! We had to wait from them to get out of the way, so that we could come down.

Total miles for the week. No dirt-sampling, huck-a-bucks, or yard sales. I'd call that pretty good.
